Designer dresses

Have you ever looked at clips from fashion shows and wondered what dress designers are thinking? I realize they are supposed to be high fashion, but some of them are making dresses I cannot imagine anyone wearing anywhere. I don’t know why they waste their time, and I don’t know why they do it. I guess I might not understand because I couldn’t imagine paying thousands of dollars for a dress. I could be a billionaire and I still wouldn’t do it. I know there are some dresses that they show off on the catwalk that never see the light of day again. Why do they do it?couture 2

couture4couture 4Interesting history about fashion design I did not know about.

Designer clothing is a big market today and most people enjoy the choices of different designers clothing.

Perhaps it is a matter of showing of what the designer can do, even though they know that the average person won’t wear it. Perhaps dress designers are not concerned with the average person, and that makes it worth their while because its strictly for the people who are seen and want to be seen as a style setter. If people don’t like something, it doesn’t matter who the Dress Designer is they won’t buy the article. I have seen celebrities wearing a style of a certain dress or gown that they were probably given by a designer because it just didnt suit them at all.couture 5

Other word for clothing designers. is couturtiere in french.

I have started seeing that a lot of dress designers are now moving into making clothing for the average person. They are still making high-end clothing for the rich, but they are also using their skills to make great designs for everyone else. This is a great idea, and I can’t imagine why dress designers did not do this long ago. They may think it diminishes their high couture value, but I really don’t think so. This gives everyone a chance to own something great looking without spending a fortune, and what could be a better advertisement that having everyone look great with your name on it?couture3

I’m not a dress designer so perhaps I will never quite understand. However, I do think that they are great at what they do, even if in the scope of life it is not something that will change the world. Though guiding fashions and what people will wear will be something that can be seen globally, in the end it really doesn’t matter too much. I do understand the drive to do what you love, and if being a dress designer is something that you have to do, then go ahead and do it.

The definition of a dress designer is: Bearing the name, signature, or identifying pattern of a specific designer: designer luggage; designer clothing.

Here are some of my favoriate designers this season: Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Miu Miu, Moschino, DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg, Prada, Stella McCartney and BCBG Max Azria.

(Miu Miu is a clothing line from the Prada fashion house, begun in 1993, and headed by Miuccia Prada. ‘Miu Miu’ is Miuccia Prada’s nickname, for which she chose to name the collection. The line is well-known for its clean and stylish designs, as well as use of fine materials).

Lots of feminine touches this season with lots of sunny shades of yellow and curry worn with metallics. For day and especially evening Cobalt blue with taxi cab yellow are predominate colors this season.
