What is Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is a small perennial deciduous shrub, growing to fifteen feet with coarsely toothed, broad oval leaves. Distinctive yellow flowers appear in clusters at its joints and then evolve into blackish-brown fruit capsules that, when ripe in winter, audibly eject two oily, edible seeds up to twelve feet away from the tree. Witch hazels perform best when planted in a moist but well-drained, loamy, acidic soil. They do not flourish in heavy, wet, and compacted soils and are subject to drought stress.
Witch Hazel is a natural anti-inflammatory that helps tighten pores and reduce swelling. Witch Hazel has been supposed to owe its utility to an action on the muscular fiber of veins. The distilled extract from the fresh leaves and young twigs forms an excellent remedy for internal or external uses, being beneficial for bleeding from the lungs and nose, as well as from other internal organs.
Witch hazel water contains a trace of essential oil consisting of eugenol, carvacrol, and probably similar compounds. However, as it is a steam distillate, it does not contain tannins.
Witch Hazel can be used to soothe down the pain of sunburn, insect bites, poison ivy blisters, windburn, sprained muscles, etc. Witch hazel has long been used to treat hemorrhoids. Both European and American herbalists use witch hazel both as an internal and topical remedy.
Witch hazel, the famous astringent herb, is full of tannins, gallic acids, and essential oils. While you can take it internally as tea, it is best to make a strong decoction for use as a compress. Witch Hazel provided early pioneers with medicine and cosmetics. Millions of gallons of extract from the plant’s leaves are sold yearly. Witch Hazel has been rubbed on piles, skin disorders, and joints, and has been consumed for sore throat, bronchial discharges, diarrhea, and uterine hemorrhages. It has also been used to “soothe” the nerves and “tone” the system.
Witch-hazel was subsequently used by the early European settlers in similar ways. A tea of the leaves was employed for a variety of medicinal purposes. Witch-Hazel may have a single trunk up to 1′ across, or there may be several ascending branches at its base. The trunk and/or larger branches are grey, relatively smooth, and slightly wrinkled.
I have personally used witch hazel as a cotton eye compress and found it very smoothing and relaxing.
Natural Skin Care
Natural skin care is the care of the skin (the largest organ of the body) using naturally-derived ingredients (such as herbs, roots, essential oils and flowers) combined with naturally occurring carrier agents, preservatives, surfactants, humectants and emulsifiers (everything from natural soap to oils to pure water).
The classic definition of natural skin care is based on using botanically sourced ingredients currently existing in or formed by nature, without the use of synthetic chemicals, and manufactured in such a way to preserve the integrity of the ingredients.
As a result of this definition, many peo
ple who use natural skin care products, generally make their own products at home from naturally occurring ingredients. It is believed that the Egyptians developed many natural skin care treatments for a variety of skin conditions. Some examples of natural skin care ingredients include jojoba, safflower oil, rose hip seed oil, shea butter, beeswax, witch hazel, aloe vera, tea tree oil, and chamomile.
Natural skin care goes beyond the application of products on one’s skin. This includes the belief that what is ingested will affects all aspects of health, including the health of skin. People who use natural skin care products are less concerned with artificial beauty enhancements, as they feel that natural beauty is healthy beauty.
Honey’s natural antioxidant and anti-microbial properties and ability to absorb and retain moisture have been recognised and used extensively in skin care treatments as they help to protect the skin from the damage of the sun’s rays and rejuvenate depleted skin.
Beauty Is In The Eyes
Readers question: ” I need some basic
eye beauty tips”
You can learn a lot about a woman by looking at her eyes. Your eyes are the door to your soul. Your eyes will express love, joy, excitement, pain, sadness and a lot more but at the same time the eyes shows early signs of sun damage, stress, illness and aging.
The skin around the eyes is one of the thinnest you have on your face. There is only a small pad of underlying fat under your eyes that vanishes with age, and after that there is little to guard against wrinkles or disguise veins and damage around the eyes are readily visible.
The drug stores, department stores, specialty boutiques are packed with conventional treatments specific to the eye area. It is confusing and almost impossible to determine which product you should buys.
I personally think that the best solution is to take a holistic approach, natural inspired remedies supply you with a powerful arsenal. Restorative ingredients such as vitamins, antioxidants and essential oils extracted from herbs, teas and other plants can help mend this vulnerable area.
Here are some quick fixes and product suggestions to tackle: puffy eyes, dark circles, crow’s feet, crinkled eyelids and bags.
Puffy Eyes: Puffy eyes are caused by fluids pools around the eyes while you sleep and should drain during the day. Swelling may result from dilated blood vessels, allergies, or a diet that promotes water retention.
The main thing to do is to avoid heavy creams, drink a lot of water and limit salty foods and alcohol. Splash your face with cold water and pat dry with a soft towel when you first wake up. Follow with a cold compress of chilled tea bags or cucumber slices or cold potato slices or witch hazel soaked cotton balls, leave for 15 minutes. Rinse, dry and apply a lightweight eye gel (make sure you store in the refrigerator).
When you purchase an eye cream look for the following ingredients: Caffeine, cucumber extract, Allantoin, alpha-lipoic, Licorice, milk thistle and vitamin D. My favorite is White Tea Eye Gel.
Bags: With age, cells produce more free radicals, which break down collagen and elastin causing skin to lose elasticity and structure. The pad of fat, bulges outward, while fat below the eye shrinks. Water retention makes the problem worse. Eat vitamin C-rich foods to support collagens production. Tap the eye area lightly while moisturizing to help dissipate excess fluid. To reduce water retention, drink water, limit alcohol and get more rest. Place a slice of cucumber over each eye or chilled tea bags for 15 minutes. This will help tighten the skin and absorb the unwanted fluids.
When purchasing an eye cream look for the following ingredients: Tea, Vitamin C and E, cucumber, oatmeal, persimmon, witch hazel or yeast extract . My favorite is Organic Expressions Brighter Eye Creme.
Dark Circle: Nasal congestion widens surrounding veins, and related inflammation may lead to dark pigment deposits. Stress and poor diet can weaken blood vessels, which break, creating a bruise-like undertone. Fatigues strains the eyelid muscles and can make circles appear darker. Some dark circles are genetic. Eat foods rich in vitamin K and use a daily topical treatment with vitamin K as well. Try an get more downtime and sleep. Try “plumping Up” the in skin with a fast absorbing oil like Jojoba.
When purchasing a product for dark circles look for the following ingredients: Vitamin K, green tea, Vitamin C, grape seed and rose hip extract. My favorite is: Evening Primrose Eye Cream SPF6.
Crow’s Feet: Sun exposure and aging diminish skin’s elasticity; UV rays and pollution cause inflammation and cell damage. Always wear sunglasses to block harmful UV rays and keep you from squint
ing. Hydrate with a light oil like evening primrose or Vita E serum.
When purchasing a products look for the following ingredients: Antioxidant vitamins, A, C and E, Hyaluronic acid, Allantoin, Alpha lipoic acid, calendula, chamomile, licorice, milk thistle, tea or vitamin B. My favorite is: Aloe Vera Eye Cream.
Crinkled Eyelids: As you age your skin produces less amount of oil, so eyelids tend to become dry and fragile. Loss of elasticity and fat, plus thinning skin; compounds the problem and contributes to small folds in the lids. Eye shadows and cleansers dry the eyelids too. Use a light eye cream in the morning; tap the eye area gently under the cream is absorbed. Your cleansers should be gentle to the skin, don’t scrub hard to remove stubborn make up instead, gently wash the area again. Do not use powder based eye shadow. Use a cream eye shadow.
When purchasing a product for crinkled eyelids look for the following ingredients: Almond, apricot kernel, castor or grape seed oils. My favorite is: Daily Revitalizing Eye Cream.
Permanent Make up

Permanent Make-up is the micro-implantation of color into the upper layer of the skin.
It is also artistically applied to enhance your natural appearance. You will look your best and no one will suspect that you have had a permanent make up application but bare in in mindthat this can only be achieved if it is done correctly.
Permanent Make-up is a personal decision that only you can make. This information can help you make an informed decision after weighing the benefits, learning about the procedure and the natural healing process.
Permanent make-up (also known as micropigmentation, cosmetic tattooing, and intradermal pigmentation) is a method of applying natural or synthetic pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. This technique has been medically developed and specifically designed for safe, permanent application. Permanent make-up is used for a variety of permanent make-up enhancements, such as permanent eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner and lip color. This technique can also be used to treat stretch marks, scars and areolas
Beneficial for those clients who:
-
Are active and want to save time
-
Have poor eyesight
-
Have allergies to make-up
-
Are physically incapable of applying makeup
-
Wish to correct asymmetrical facial features
-
Desire freedom from make-up
Eyebrows:
Properly shaped eyebrows will enhance your face shape and frame your eyes without dominating your
features. Multi-colored hair strokes can be blended for a soft, natural look. How great it will be not to worry about sweating or wiping your brows off. You will ever have to match them again.
Eyeliner:
Soft color can be applied as an enhancement or a thicker defined line for a more dramatic effect. Di
mension is created by implanting more color to the outer edges and tapering to the middle of the eye. A smoky eye shadow look can also be an alternative. No more runny, smudgy eyeliner. Great answer for contact wearers, too.
Lips:
Size, shape and color can be altered. Accentuate the outer lip liner and blend color to the middle of the lips for a natural look. Correct a crooked lip line or just add definition.
Minor swelling can be expected and sometimes blistering can occur.
Please follow the procedure given and explained to you by your operator, and review all the questions and answers before the procedure.
The following is what you can expect before, during and after your permanent make up procedure:
Consultation:
Your expectations will be discussed. Communication is clear on what the end result will look like. A guideline is created with conventional make-up, but…the final decision is yours.
Pre-Procedure Care and Consideration:
- Avoid caffeine prior to procedure. Caffeine is a stimulant.
- Getting a procedure done during your period can make you hyper-sensitive.
- Zovarix (a prescription drug) or L-lysine (over the counter) is recommended if you have a history of cold sores.
- Start taking Lysine 1 week prior to lip procedure.
- Check with your physician prior to a procedure if you have: severe diabetes, AIDS, hepatitis, or heart problems.
Pigmentation Application:
A custom pigment is mixed to compliment your special coloring or a close match of color to your favorite eye pencil or eyeliner. A topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area. The permanent make-up specialist implants pigment using sterilized disposable needles. Strict sanitation and sterilization guidelines are followed. The pigments used are formulated specifically for permanent cosmetic use. The comfort level varies from client to client. Most clients report the feeling of vibration and anxiety rather than discomfort. Addition anesthetic is advisable if desired and will be applied during the process of applying the pigmentation.
Post-Procedure Care and Consideration:
-
Do not swim or take a steam shower until you are healed. A shower is recommended over a bath.
-
Touch the treated area only with clean hands.
-
No makeup until area is healed.
-
Do not pick, scrub or scratch treated area
-
Follow any additional directions from your technician
The Healing Process :
The area treated will look much darker and more defined than the final results. Be patient. It will look much softer in 5-6 days depending on how fast your skin heals. Most clients will go to work the next day. Tenderness is expected, but slight bruising and irritation may sometimes occur.
Eyebrows: Brows will be tender for 1-2 days, appear dark in 5-6 days, then dramatically soften up to 50%. Only use the ointments recommended by your technician.
Eyeliner: Expect the eye to be tender for l1-2 days. You may do the following if this area is swollen after the procedure.
A. Wet a Lipton tea bay in cold water and apply for at least 10 minutes.
B. Apply an ice pack or Apply bag of frozen peas.
Lip color: This area will take longest to heal. The color will be extremely bright for 7-8 days then fade to no color and reappear after 3-6 weeks. Your lips will look and feel swollen and blistering may occur in some cases.
FOLLOW ANY ADDITIONAL ADVICE FROM YOUR TECHNICIAN.
Make an adjustment appointment after the healing process if there is anything you would like to add. A premature touch-up can result in scaring, tenderness and inaccurate color. Color cannot be adjusted until it has healed.
Non Surgical Face Lift Treatment

JUST WHAT IS A NON-SURGICAL FACELIFT?
-
Non-surgical facelift is a comprehensive program of techniques developed by medical science used in
advanced physiotherapeutic and adapted for esthetics. -
A system of interrelated therapies whereby the muscles and connective tissues of the face, chin and neck are strengthened and tightened.
-
Stimulation of skin tissues to dramatically improve elasticity and general condition
-
An ongoing maintenance program to keep things firm and wrinkles at bay
What it is not:
-
A temporary “skin tightener” out of a tube or bottle
-
A temporary “skin pumper” as found in many cosmetic products promising rejuvenation
-
A chemical peel or abrasive scrub
-
A random electrical “facial toning” as offered by some cosmetologists
-
Acupuncture, acupressure or laser

Why does the skin wrinkle and sag?
As we age, the underlying muscles become elastic and unable to support the skin and tissue attached to them. In addition, the skins loses it ability to rengenerate new tissue and its ability to moisturized itself. Fluid build-up, wrinkles and sagging are the end results to this process.
How does this Micro-Lift Unit Work?
Micro-Lift is an electric stimulation apparatus that provides muscular and cutaneous revitalization of the face, neck and breasts. This internationally recognized method uses a highly sophisticated, but easy-to-use technique. The apparatus emits a pulsed galvanic micro-current that provides a gentle lifting treatment to the face, breasts and neckline area. Specific techniques are used to lift muscles and put them back where they belong.
How soon will I get results?
This depends upon your age and condition when you first begin treatment. It is recommended that the client come in for an initial series of 2-3 treatments w week for 5-6 weeks. This will re-tone the muscles and repair the skin. After the initial series, most clients come in once every month for a maintenance treatment to keep everything tight and healthy.
What is a Treatment like?
It is painless. Treatments take approximately 25 minutes. They are pleasant and relaxing. A mask after treatment is recommended. Total time is 1 hour and 15 minutes. A very mild sensation of stimulation is felt.
Can this type of Treatment be used in conjunction with cosmetic surgery?
INDEED… with a surgical face lift, the muscles and skin are cut and stretched. The problem with this is that, within a few years, muscles and skin will again begin to sag. Micro-Lift can be used to enhance and/or maintain surgical procedures, providing that the area has completely healed.
Treatment schedule: Corrective treatment-for optimum results: a series of treatments-minimum of 10 treatments is recommended.
Schedule 2-3 visits per week
The number of treatments required is related to the clients age, state of his/her skin, his/her eating habits, his/her lifestyle and his/her daily skin habits.
Maintenance Treatment: To maintain results and prevent future deterioration, the client should receive one(1)treatment every month or every three(3) weeks.
Preventive Care: High recommended as a preventive treatment once a month.
A Quick Lift for Special Occasions: Before an important event, a treatment can be performed three(3) times in a single week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

What is Rosacea?
One evening while I was having a glass of wine with some friends they asked me if I was okay or if I had been in the sun because my face was bright red. I looked into my purse mirror and low and behold my face was indeed red as a beet and yet I could not figure out what was causing this awful flushing. I looked into one of my skin books and discovered that I have Rosacea.
Rosacea is a common skin disorder and it affects an estimated 14 million Americans. It usually occurs in adults between the ages of 30 and up and mostly with lighter skin, hair and eyes. But I soon discovered that it does affect children and people of any skin color. Because I am olive skinned and yet I have rosacea.
By the way Rosacea is pronounced (rose-AY-sha). It is definitely a chronic shin condition that worsens over time. Its primary symptom is redness of the face, neck and chest. It will look as though you are blushing, usually in the center of the face and progresses into persistent redness in your face. The redness may appear on the neck and chest as well. It also can be accompanied by pimples, puss, and visible blood vessels on the face.
Typically rosacea affects more women then men. Women usually have an occurance during or before menopause. Men develop rosacea more severely than women with a condition called Rhinophyma which is a condition where the nose thickens and enlarges becoming discolored taking on a red and sometimes a purplish appearance.
Rosacea also affects the eyes in some cases causing eye problems such as redness, itching, burning, dryness, excessive tearing, ligh sensitivity and blurred vision. One can feel as though there in sand in your eyes, a very uncomfortable feeling.

Doctors still don’t know the exact cause of rosacea, or even if it can be passed on through families. Although there is no cure, rosacea can be treated and controlled. If you go to a dermatologist they will start you with a topical antibiotic that should be applied directly to the problem areas. The most popular antibiotics used is tetracycline, minocycline, erythromycin or doxicyline, but unfortunately this regime only clears up pimples and does little to improve the flushing or redness of your skin.
I personally recommend and encourage life changes to help control rosacea. The following are changes to help eliminate the triggers that cause rosacea to become aggravated and flare up.
- Heat (soaking in hot baths and spas)
- Stenuous exercise
- Sunlight (sun bathing)
- Wind
- Cold temperature
- Spicy food
- Stress
- Alcohol (red wine)
- Menopause
- Long term use of steroids ont the face
If you have rosacea you will probably also have sensitive, reactive skin. You have o be careful when trying out new products as you will have a tendancy to react badly to many ingredients such as fragrance, glycolic, Retin-A, strong cleaners, retinols and anti-aging treatments.
You may want to try wearing a sunscreen daily, using a mild cleanser, getting intense pulsed-light therapy, photo-facials. I recommend that you find an experienced medical professional to perform your treatments.
There are various creams and facial products on the market today…the product that I learned first hand that helps keep my rosacea under control is products with anything made from roses (oil, water, cream) it has a calming, soothing effect on my skin and I can see the difference by the next day, this works for me but be careful and read the ingredients of the products you are using amking sure that they have a skin calming effect.
Loose skin

Most people assume that it’s impossible to get rid of loose skin.
Its just a matter of time when you will start noticing loose skin on the abdomen, inner thighs, inner arms, and butt, loose skin is the last piece of the weight loss puzzle. If you loose weight too fast you will notice it sooner than you think suddently the loose skin appears. Its not pretty.
I think this article gives lots of information on the structure of skin.
Surgery is the last option, in cases where weight loss exceeds 100
pounds . However, diet is the best option. If you asked a doctor how to get rid of loose skin, you might hear, “Just keep losing weight until your skin is no longer loose”. The truth of the matter is that loose skin is simply excess fat hanging in the skin. Crash diets are usually responsible for saggy skin. With proper diet and exercise, loose skin can be a thing of the past!
The definition of loose skin: Often when someone who is obese loses a great deal of fat, they are left with loose skin. In some cases, this can “tighten up” over time,in others, some type of cosmetic surgery is necessary. … Some ideas to remedy loose skin issues .
Skin is the largest organ you have. Skin itself is not fatty. Skin is a stretchy, elastic organ that usually bounces back into shape. It’s the fat clinging to the inside of the skin that gives that folded, dimpled appearance.
Prevention begins with diet. When a person goes on a crash diet, the total weight loss consists of 20% lean fat and over 20% muscle. So you end up with more total fat than before! With less muscle support, the skin appears droopy. Lean fat appears firm. The jelly-like fat left over hangs in the skin, using it like a hammock. On the other hand, a gradual, reasonable diet results in mostly flabby fat loss.
Don’t try to lose ten pounds in ten days. Set a reasonable goal. Try cutting down on portions and get regular exercise. If you absolutely must lose the weight quickly, expect the loose skin. Just because you have the shape you intended, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t firm up, you should consider starting a weight training class, it will help to tighten loose skin.
A low-fat diet forces your body to burn the extra fat hanging in your skin, for energy. Don’t expect the loose skin to get toned up quickly. This loose skin fat is the toughest to get rid of, even tougher than belly fat. It takes persistence, so don’t quit. Another reason you may have dimply skin is because there is not enough muscle to support it.
Before continuing to diet, start a muscle building and toning program. Aerobics and Pilates are both known for their fast-acting muscle toning exercises. If, after toning the muscles, the skin is still flabby, it’s time to combine muscle-firming exercise with diet. When combined, the fat in the skin will eventually go away, and the skin will revert to its original shape.
You can also get a cream for tightening your skin, it takes a long time but just massaging it daily on your legs, buttock, arms abs and any areeas of concern after a shower will help tremendously.
Sunless Tanning Products
You want to know what the world needs? A healthy tan! Or at least everyone seems to think so. Now, the two terms “healthy” and “tan” are a bit contradictory. As we all know by now, tans are really not that healthy. In fact, they lead to premature aging and skin cancer. None of us want these things. Luckily for Caucasian individuals everywhere, there are now some tanning products available without side-effects. Yes indeed, you can have your cake and eat it too. Say hello to the spray-on tan and infinite other sunless tanners.
This is one of the most interesting information you will find on Sunless Tan Products it works well and you will be pleased.
How does sunless tanning products work? We all ask that question so Wikepedia has loads of information
Why is it that everyone wants a tan in the first place? From what I hear, Coco Channel started this whole trend back in the day when she returned to Hollywood with a vicious tan she acquired while on vacation somewhere. Suddenly everyone wanted a tan. Personally I prefer to stick with the skin color I was given, but to each his own. Anyway, back then everyone was sun-bathing like it was no big thing. A couple hours basking in the
sun’s glorious rays was considered healthy.
No one pondered the aftermath of the sun’s fury. No one expected to acquire leathery skin and wrinkles galore, but they did nonetheless. Just take a look at the old lady on “There’s Something About Mary.” She’s a prime example of someone who has sunbathed her entire life. YUCK! I could make a suitcase with that woman’s flesh. On the other hand, that era can be put behind us with contemporary tanning products. Now it’s more about massaging the tan into the skin, rather than lying out in the sun. The greatest thing about sunless tanning products is that they have no messy aftermath.
Sunless tanning information is very useful and you will find lots of added information.
Try a few products and see the results for yourself. Of the new-age sunless tanning products, I’d have to guess that the subtle ones are the biggest hit right now. Lotions such as “Touch of Sun” are being snagged off the drugstore shelves everywhere. Apparently they leave no messy orange streaking behind. This is key in sunless tanning products. NO ONE wants to look like a messy science experiment. Another option you may want to try is mist-on tanning. This is done in a professional atmosphere with great results and is the rage right now.

Welcome to the world of variety and confusion. Current markets offer such a vast selection of products, you will have some difficulty weeding through it all. Cosmetics are available in lots of places;the local Department Store, Drug Stores, Beauty Supply Stores, Health Food Stores, Discount Stores, Spas, Plastic Surgeons office, Dermatologists and Specialty Stores. Some of the most popular brands are Lancôme, Clinique, Este Lauder, Guerlain, Clarins, Clinique, Channel, Dior, Mac, Bobbie Brown, Prescriptive, MaxFactor, L’Oreal, Wei East, Mineral products, Avon, Decleor, Yonka, Prevonia and so many more.
It will be very confusing to you if you don’t know what you are looking for. Some people search for cosmetics skin care products by price. If you have a price range, this can certainly narrow the spectrum a bit. Do you know what you’re searching for? But in to days world where information is so easily available through the internet and advertisements you can do your own research and decide what you are looking for.
I’ve watched my wife go through numerous cosmetics and skin care lines over the past 10 years. One thing I can say for certain is just because she like a skin care regimen from one company, doesn’t mean she likes their make-up. Apparently the cosmetics skin care business is a diverse one with plenty of perks and drawbacks. At this point she raves on and on about specific Lancôme skin care products like the cleansers and toners, but she uses an eye cream and pore minimizing gel from Clinique. I am speechless at all the products sitting on her vanity. How can she even sort through all of these cosmetics skin care products? And does she have to use every single one of them every single day? I don’t even bother to ask. Make-up and skin care products aren’t exactly my cup of tea.
One way to simplify your search through the mad jungle of cosmetics skin care lines and make-up is by finding out your skin type, if you’re allergic to anything and what is it you are trying to accomplish. Furthermore, if you do not want to visit the cosmetic counters at all there are plenty of skin care products and simple make-up brands in the drugstores. As I’m sure you already know, they will cost you quite a bit less that the products sold by snobby women wearing pounds of flashy make-up. A drugstore brand that comes highly recommended is Neutrogena and L’Oreal. Whatever cosmetics skin care products you choose, just be sure their treating your face with the utmost respect, or you’re simply wasting your hard-earned dollars. There are too many to choose from to settle for less than great.
Beauty Make Up Issues

No matter what people say as opposition to beauty make up that makes girls and women look prettier, you cannot separate beauty and makeup because they run hand in hand. Beauty make up is after all–to make you look better giving your skin a flawless look, color on your cheeks and definition of your eyes and lips. I have been using beauty make up since the age of 15, and will never give it up because I am very fond of my beauty make up.

I am very good with beauty skin care products, in fact, most people who know me assume that I was born with the knowledge. I personally believe that skin care products will enhance your beauty make up because if you have healthy skin then your make up will become a compliment to your skin. My friends also know that I never leave the house without my basic beauty make up, depending on where I am going.
Nevertheless, when I first started, I was as bad as most people , but as the years went by I paid attention of what is right and what is too much. My mother never wore make up except for a little face powder and lipstick so I had to learn what I know on my own. I paid attention to people and did a lot of people watching and deciding what I like about the beauty make up and what I didn’t like and would never do.
The art of applying beauty make up actually was more difficult for me to learn than it is for many young girls and women. It took me years and years to get it right. Either I would use too much or too little, either the beauty make up would be too dark, too light or leave my face looking dull and shallow. I could never get my eyeliner pencil just right because I was too afraid of poking an eye out, so I would draw outlines that were far too big. My eye shadow application was frightening and too intense. But I finally learned that less was better than having too much make up. I tried avoiding looking like a clown.
It wasn’t until I was a grown woman that I really learned how to put on beauty make up correctly and effectively. I started modeling and had to attend make up courses and it is where I learned so much about the application, the techniques and the end results of applying beauty make up correctly. I actually wore very little beauty make up during the day, only a sun block while at the gym, playing tennis or running and only applied make up at night, or if I was going somewhere special.
Make up at times during my life did not seem like a sophisticated thing for girls or young ladies to wear. In Europe women tend to concentrate more on the condition of their skin by getting facials and wear very little beauty make up. But when I came to America I noticed that all of the really interesting women – those in politics, models, actresses, musicians, tv personalities, soap opera stars, stand up comedians etc– wore makeup on their faces and looked radiant and so well put together. I wanted to be like them, and so I started to learn about beauty make up, I bought magazines, books about how to apply make up and its amazing how much information is available to you if you search for it.

Today things are much easier and we all learning about what is good for our skin and what we should not do if we want to maintain a healthy skin. I personally believe that having healthy skin is very important and actually helps with your overall finish beauty application. Any unhealthy skin leave your beauty make up looking awful and you won’t accomplish that finished look of perfection.
A good thing that I found is that if you don’t know how to apply your make up all you need to do is go to the department stores in your area and get a free makeup lessons with a purchase of lipstick, eyeliner or eyebrow pencil. You definitely can gain some insights and techniques that you may be able to use on yourself. The trick of applying make up is in the blending of your application.
I am glad I gained the knowledge of applying my beauty make up correctly and affectively, or I might have still struggled with the idea of not knowing what I was doing.
